Huntingdonshire Youth Offer : St Neots
Since 2009 ADeC (Arts Development East Cambridgeshire) has developed and delivered a creative arts programme across Huntingdonshire in partnership with Cambridge County Council Office of Children and Young People Services. Over the past few months ADeC has been working with St Neots Youth club as part of this offer.
The young people of St Neots have shown a keen interest in skate and BMX photography. They have been working with professional photographer Sam Mellish to develop their photography skills. Workshops have included introductory photography sessions at Bargroves youth centre. A trip to Adrenaline Alley Skate park in Corby to put their new found skills in to practice, and the project will finish up this week at a skate competition in the Skate park in St Neots. The young people have organise this event and will document the afternoons activities with Sams help.
Zoe Davidson Projects Manager at ADeC who has been running the project said. ‘The Youth Offer has provided a great opportunity for young people to work with professional artists. The young people have shown a really flair for photography and I look forward to seeing their results on Thursday. The skate event which they have helped organise alongside Darryl McMurray Youth Development Coordinator will really show the community what a great asset the skate park is to them, and how much they value it.
