Stitch Links: ‘Reworking The Image’. Babylon Gallery
Ends this Sunday 01 July 2012
Babylon Gallery | Waterside | Ely | CB7 4AU
A collective of contemporary textile artists working together to produce a body of work which reflects on modern life. The Babylon Gallery welcomes back a group of contemporary textile artists for the second time, with their new exhibition: ‘Reworking The Image’.
The six women, based in East Anglia and London, have a common interest in textile art but work in a diversity of styles, ranging from large scale installations, to sculpture, to small and intimate pieces and colourful hand and machine-embroidery. Our previous Stitch Links exhibition two years ago drew more than 3,000 visitors and we anticipate a lot of interest in their new work. It will certainly stimulate debate about the direction in which modern stitching is headed.
In addition to the work on display, there will be an eye-catching collection of cushions for sale in the gallery shop, which have been designed especially for this show, each artist has worked their own designs, see if you can match the cushion to the artist!
