Your space : A new project in Ely’s Jubilee Gardens
We need young people (13-19yrs) for a new project in Ely's Jubilee Gardens to create an event, artwork or display ...the choice is yours!
Thanks to generous funding from the co-operative membership community fund, young people have the chance to be involved in an exciting new project based in Jubilee Gardens on Ely’s riverside.
Over the past ten years, the award winning gardens have matured into a wonderful space where you can relax, enjoy the many plants, admire artworks, listen to live music or indulge in a picnic. This is in no small part due to the hard work and commitment of the Friends of Jubilee Gardens team who have now secured this funding to allow young people to make a positive contribution to the gardens in 2012.
The project, coordinated by ADeC (Arts Development in East Cambridgeshire), is called ‘yourspace’; a title intended to highlight the fact that young people will be given a unique opportunity to take part of the gardens and make it theirs for an event or display.
We are looking for young people aged 13 to 19 years old to get involved. It is free to take part and the participants will decide on how the space is used and what is created. We are sure they will generate some great ideas which will grow into a finished piece to coincide with the garden’s tenth anniversary later this year. Anyone wanting to find out more should contact Nathan Jones at ADeC or turn up to the first meeting at 6pm on Friday 10 February at the Babylon Gallery.
