Yoga 4 Kids - at the YOGA STUDIO in Little Downham

Yoga 4 Kids at the YOGA STUDIO in Little Downham

What are the benefits of yoga for children?

Practising yoga from a young age helps to keep flexible, builds strength and stamina safely, better sleep, improve their levels of concentration and perform to their full potential at home and in school. The combination of breathing, posture work and relaxation/visualisation techniques help children to gain in self- confidence and come to terms with many of their physical and mental developmental changes.

The elements of Hatha yoga are incorporated, using breathing, posture and relaxation/visualisation techniques and are designed to appeal to children. Hatha yoga is based on a system of eight steps. These ’codes of conduct’ are thought in a child friendly manner and lead to a better quality of life.

At what age can children start yoga?

Classes are divided in 3 groups and run according to school terms:

4 - 7 year olds:
Playful yoga poses using games along with animated breathing exercises, will be the focus.
A fun class for kids with lots of action and a quiet time at the finish.

8 - 12 year olds:
We explore flowing sequences, balancing poses, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques.
Partner poses and cooperative yoga games inspire positive peer interaction.
This class encourages a deeper sense of body awareness, self-exploration and inter personal skills.

A teenagers life is in constant state of change. Physically, they are undergoing a huge transformation as their bodies mature.
