WWT Welney Wetland Centre Floodlit Feeds 2012
see below for times/prices
WWT Welney Wetland Centre
From October to March witness one of the nature's most spectacular spectacles as thousands of ducks and swans migrate to WWT Welney for the winter.
The Ouse washes hold the UK’s largest roost of whooper and Bewick’s swans. These birds have gone through incredible migrations from their breeding grounds in Iceland and Arctic Russia to arrive at their winter refuge.
On the Ouse washes we normally see anywhere up to 5,000 whooper swans and 4,000 Bewick’s swans. .
Many of these individuals return to Welney each year, bringing with them their latest brood of cygnets.
One whooper swan called Baldur has been seen at Welney for the past three years and during this time has brought 19 cygnets on the difficult journey from Iceland. This includes bringing two separate broods of seven cygnets!
You can get closer to these magnificent birds with the amazing events held at Welney each year.
Join us for our famous swan feeds, where you can watch a warden going out to feed the swans and other wildfowl from the comfort of the main observatory.
