Last year Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service commissioned artist and retained firefighter, Emily Haysom to carry out an engagement project through art with people from the travelling community in East Cambs and Fenland.

The Tea by Invitation project opened up an invaluable dialogue with travellers, identifying their core values and beliefs, and created meaningful socially engaged artwork and reports. This has enabled fire service staff to gain a better understanding of travellers to identify how to improve fire prevention and emergency response.

The artwork will be exhibited at Ely Fire Station on Monday February 22, 2010.  The exhibition will be an opportunity to find out more about the project’s findings by talking to those involved over tea and cake while viewing the inspiring exhibition.  The exhibition opens at 10am and closes at 5pm. Emily will be available to talk about the project from 11am until 1pm.
