The Big Draw 2011 Babylon Gallery & Amnesty International - FREE Family Art Workshop

Help screen print a banner celebrating Amnesty's 50th year, contribute to our 'freedom for all' collage and decorate some kites for the Afghan Women's Human Rights Campaign. Children under 11 to be accompanied by an adult. Local artists Ricki Outis and Barbara Grafton will be at the gallery between 12 pm and 4 pm and members of the public of all ages are invited to come along. Come for a little while or longer if you have the time.

There will be three different art-related activities which have been chosen. Screen printing , run by Ricki Outis who help you print a banner, letter-by-letter, to commemorate the 50th Birthday of Amnesty International. Barbara will be helping participants to create collages of people behind bars (to remind us that in some countries there are many Prisoners of Conscience). Finally, participants can help to decorate a kite as part of an Amnesty International campaign to support the human rights of Afghan women. In Afghanistan, women are allowed to make kites but not to fly them.

Help create a piece of art that could be seen by hundreds of thousands of people around the world when we put the photographs up on the Amnesty website. It’s not often that such a serious subject as human rights can be made fun, but our Big Draw Family Workshop promises to be a really enjoyable few hours in a very worthwhile cause.”
