Sarah Sabin: ‘Domestic Science’ at the Babylon Gallery
Sat 25 July – Sun 23 August
Sarah Sabin ‘Domestic Science’: Babylon Gallery, Waterside, Ely, CB7 4AU. Open: Tues - Sun 12 noon - 4pm, Free entry
Works from UCL Institute of Archaeology Residency 2008-9. During her residency the artist ‘dwelled’ in the Wolfson basement laboratories, slicing, pounding, milling, melting and analysing materials from a domestic dwelling. In ‘Domestic Science’ she has manipulated these materials, creating her own works within the debris and detritus found.
Free family activity! Come at the gallery and enjoy our family activity "Discover a new world". By looking carefully at objects, stones or shells can you imagine new worlds and creatures? Using a magnifying glass... suddenly, a rock looks like a planet; a piece of wood is transformed into a cave, a feather becomes a cosy nest. Like the artist, look carefuly at objects and invent a new world!
Next exhibition: Sat 29 August – Sun 4 October. Jake Tilson and Kyoichi Tsuzuki: 'Net of Eels'
