Loukas Morley and Férdia Stone-Davis. Without Words Creative Workshop

Saturday 23rd April
Duration: 10am-3pm (including one hour lunch break).
Location: Babylon Gallery, Ely.

Whilst the workshop is suitable for all ages: children must be accompanied by an adult.

This workshop will guide participants through the process of mark making, thereby encouraging them to explore and develop their own unique visual language. It is through making marks that art is created: participants will be encouraged to explore gesture and expression in and through a variety of media and colours. Music will enable the process: by redirecting attention away from oneself and placing it instead upon different kinds of music, the self-conscious act of creation will give way to play and improvisation.

Férdia Stone-Davis will accompany Loukas Morley during the workshop. She is an accomplished performer of both baroque and contemporary recorder repertoire. Holding a masters in performance from Trinity College of Music, London. She is also an interdisciplinary academic working in the fields of music, theology and philosophy: she holds a doctorate from the University of Cambridge and her recent book is entitled Musical Beauty: Negotiating the Boundary between Subject and Object (Cascade, Wipf and Stock 2011). www.ferdiastone-davis.com
