  • Funding

Q: What types of financial support are available?

There are two ways in which ADeC may be able to help you finance your event. These may be in the form of an outright grant, or underwriting for events in the form of a guarantee against loss.

    Grants

    The Grants fund covers

    • Capital grants for equipment to improve arts facilities eg arts materials, photographic equipment, specialised software, musical instruments, display screens etc.
    • Marketing grants to enhance the quality and range of publicity material, advertising or promotional campaigns, or audience development initiatives eg special ticket pricing schemes
    • Professional fees for artists or consultants to assist or run specific projects
    • Commissions of new work in any art form.
    • Training courses for the arts.
    • Instant access small grants to support work with young people and travel to and from arts events.

    Guarantees Against Loss

    • Guarantees against loss are available to underwrite a wide range of arts events which may involve an element of financial risk when calculating expected income against expenditure. A guarantee against loss provides security by underwriting a reasonable short-fall.
    • When you apply you will be asked to supply a budget with the application which should include estimated income from a range of sources, such as box office receipts, sponsorship, programme or advertising sales, sales of refreshments, raffles etc, and an estimate of expenditure relating to your event. The ADeC Director will be glad to offer advice on preparing a budget.
    • Guarantees against loss can normally only be awarded to underwrite events taking place in East Cambridgeshire
    • Guarantees against loss can only be considered on receipt of a completed application form
Q: How much does ADeC offer?

The amount of financial support offered depends on

    • the nature and scale of the event
    • the benefits to local people (how many people are involved, the age groups you’re aiming at, where the event is taking place etc)
    • funds available
    • innovation or development
    • ADeC will not normally underwrite all the costs of an event, nor offer guarantees over £1000 or grants over £500.
    Q: Who can apply?

Any group or individual intending to promote arts activity within East Cambridgeshire or which directly benefits residents of East Cambridgeshire. However, all ADeC grants and guarantees are discretionary.

Q: What sort of projects can you apply for?

You can apply for support for projects in any art form, but ADeC particularly welcomes applications for projects which

    • encourage outreach and community work
    • develop new audiences
    • help to redress inequalities in arts provision throughout the District
    • make special provision for people with disabilities
    • make special provision for children and young people
    • include new and innovative work
    • involve participatory events
Q: Is there anything ADeC will not fund?

    ADeC will not normally fund

    • the running costs of an organisation, including salaries
    • regular on-going classes
    • commercial organisations which are not involved primarily in arts activities
    • work in schools directly involving delivery of the National Curriculum
    • fund-raising events
    • events that have already taken place
Q: How do you apply for support?

Application forms and detailed terms and conditions are available from the ADeC office. Applications must be received at least 6 weeks before the event for guarantees or 6 weeks before the money is needed for grants and guarantees schemes, or if you are intending to apply for financial support.

Your application will be assessed by the ADeC Management and Grants committee which meets roughly every two weeks. This means you will be informed whether you have been offered support and how much within four weeks of your application being received.
